Not a problem specific to the Mosh app though which apart from lack of UI and key management is quite good. When you use Mosh it has its own terminal emulation just like tmux or screen and it blocks some of the cool stuff that hterm can do like most of the stuff mentioned above. The biggest problem with ssh is Chromebooks are so insanely light and and have such good battery life you want to take them everywhere and while there is stuff like autossh you really can't beat mosh for roaming and it tends to do ok on slow mobile connections. And it support xterm mouse stuff so you can use it to drag tmux panes to resize and stuff. I think it also does bracketed paste so you don't need to put vim into paste mode. It has pretty good emulation and supports stuff like paste64/osc52 for transferring from your terminal session into the chrome clipboard so you can set up vim to yank directly into your browser.

Running a terminal full screen under ChromeOS with tmux on the other end gives me most of the advantages of a tiling wm anyway.Ĭhrome Secure Shell is fantastic. X terminals like urxvt work really nicely in a tiling window manager but I don't really like switching between X and Aura. They all have advantages and disadvantages.
